While it is common to find most schools teaching their students’ subjects like math, science, history, geography and other languages, how many schools impart character education to their students? Character education is that type of learning which imparts value education to students so that children develop into adults who have an all round development. Some of the concepts that are used and taught in character education are life skills education, social and emotional education, preventing violence, ethical reasoning, cognitive thinking, and moral ethics.
Children are taught values like being honest, generous, kind, grateful, disciplined and gentle with words. They are taught to build traits like courage, freedom, equality, justice and to respect everyone. When students are taught to be morally responsible, self-disciplined and ethical with care towards the community they live in then character education has been imparted with right earnestness.
Character education is very important in any student’s life as he or she then grows up to be a perfect human being in society with the right moral values. These students emerge as adults who emotionally and personally strong.
Character education teaches children to be honest, refrain from stealing or telling lies. They are taught to respect elders and treat others with respect if they too wanted to be respected in return. Talk politely to everyone, have consideration for other people’s feelings, certainly not to hurt anyone physically or emotionally. They are taught to be responsible and be accountable for their actions. Values like compassion, care and gratitude are also taught.
With character education being stressed as an important form of education in most schools these days, many children are benefiting and imbibing these good qualities and we can expect the future citizens of every country becoming responsible wholesome citizens with moral and ethical values. Children should be made to undergo character education for their betterment.

Bi-lingual education was developed first in the early sixties when many non-English students found it difficult to learn in the English language. In the sixties, many schools in the United States found many students who did not have English as their native language enroll for school education. These children found it difficult to study the various subjects in the English language and need to be taught them in their mother tongue like Chinese, Latin or Spanish. Non-English students were taught in their native languages so that it acted as a transitional phase where they would soon be more open to studying in the English language like others. Subjects like math’s, science, history and geography were taught to these students in their native languages while they were taught English separately. As they progressed in the English language, they were allowed to study these subjects in English.
Children who are educated with bilingual education are found to be excellent storytellers because they are able to express them more freely as they have knowledge of two different languages. Recent research studies around the world have shown that those with bilingual education have better IQ scores than those who learn only a single language or are monolingual. Being bilingual helps us in better communication when we travel to other countries and the need for translators is not required. Knowing two languages makes it easier for one to learn even a third and fourth language. People living in Europe know more than three or four languages.
Being bilingual helps you to read the wide variety of literature that is present in the two languages. It also exposes children who have bilingual education to learn more about other cultures. This helps them widen their outlook about the whole world and its people. Bi-lingual education is being encouraged in many schools all over the world.

These days education has indeed become a very complicated procedure. Parents have wait in line for applications for their wards, submit them, then attend interviews, and wait for tests results before their children can finally find admission in prestigious schools. Parents are at tenterhooks not knowing fully whether their children would be able to enjoy their childhood with freedom and fun while they go about acquiring skills that will help them in future when they seek employment.
Presently, most students take up education not because they feel the urge to know or learn more but because they dream of being successful in their careers. In their opinion, any degree that education provides is a passport to earning money. The higher the degrees that are acquired the fatter will be the pay received.
Alternate education is education that is non-traditional and does not follow any strict methods of tutoring. These alternate forms of education are most welcome by parents of children who are yet to attend school and those who are still in their early years at school. Alternate education is also imparted to those children who have problems with reading and understanding skills. Many children who suffer from dyslexia, autism and are slow learners are often enrolled in special schools that deal with alternate education. Alternate education is provided to these children, so that they can cope with studies and later on complete their education just like other normal children.
In alternate education the methods of teaching differ greatly and each educator gets to deal with a fewer number of students so that they can wholly concentrate on each child. This helps the child to benefit and helps them to grow so that they are better able to interact with normal people. Many educational institutions that provide alternate education are available in major cities and towns and a list of them can be found on the internet.

Did you know that there are different ways in which you can learn? Going to school and learning facts through books does not constitute learning. Many people who are known to excel in studies without much effort while there are others practically struggle through their lessons even if they are intelligent. How many times we have stories of people who did not even attend schooling but have still managed to be excellent entrepreneurs and skilled managers.
Going to school and college is not the only way one can learn. There are various ways to learn and learning styles differ from person to person but no one’s learning style is better than the other’s is. However, there are various types of learning the most important ones are though seeing, listening and through touch experience. Therefore, learners can be classified by the way they learn and depends on which sense organ they use the eye, ear or their hands to learn.
When we are small, our mother often warn us not to go near fire or the stove or anything hot as it can cause burns on our body. Those who listened to their mothers did not touch or go near the fire because they believed in her words. Some saw their older siblings touch fire, and got burnt and so through seeing they learnt the experience. Others actually touched fire and learnt that fires do cause burns and this was a simple case of learning experience.
Many people who have lived in the early eighteen hundreds and nineteen hundreds have hardly had any schooling education and it was only though experience that they learnt many things.
Many people combine the various types of learning so that they can better themselves. Some learn by reading magazines, books while there are still others who browse various websites online for furthering their learning process. Learning is a never-ending process and we can keep learning until the day we die.
